A majority (56%) of Republicans agree that discrimination [against] whites is as big a problem as discrimination against blacks and other minorities, a view shared by only 28% of Democrats and 49% of independents. Among those identifying with the Tea Party, more than 6-in-10 (61%) say discrimination against whites is as big a problem as discrimination against minorities.Among religious groups, white evangelicals are the only religious group in which a majority (57%) agree that discrimination against whites has become as big a problem as discrimination against minorities. There are also significant generational divides: only one-third of Americans under age 30 believe that discrimination against whites has become as big a problem as discrimination against minorities, compared to half (50%) of Americans age 65 or older.
